This vanilla with a tang of ginger spice bar was developed as a shampoo but it’s still a soap bar, just one that isn’t saponified like standard soap. The proper term is a Syndet bar. More about that in a blog...coming soon, I promise.

ESSENTIAL OIL BLEND

Ginger Root Oil has analgesic and antiseptic properties although it is mainly known as a digestive aid.  This may be because it has been shown to reduce inflammation in the gut which, in turn, can relieve the tension that can cause migraines and headaches. While commonly used in massage treatments, ginger has several vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and antioxidants present which can protect hair follicles and reduce damage, leading to an improved hair growth cycle.

In its pure form ginger root oil can be potent and must be dilute when used on skin or hair which is why we blended it with the vanilla smelling benzoin resin oil. 

Benzoin Resin Oil is a treat for the senses with top notes of vanilla and hints of spice and some even claim chocolate. Benzoin resin oil contains benzaldehydes which, when used topically, can be used to treat minor skin ailments such as cracked skin, cuts and grazes but meanwhile, as an antifungal and anti-inflammatory, it can also be used to treat eczema and skin irritations including an itchy scalp.  Many cosmetic & hair products include benzoic acid (the primary active ingredient from benzoin resin) because it’s known to improve the elasticity of hair and skin. All this packed into a sweet aromatic oil which has such a soothing impact on the senses.
